Depot Terminal Operator

We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Terminal Operator to join our team at the Laredo Depot. This role plays a vital part in supporting day-to-day terminal operations, including loading and unloading rail cars, lift operations involving shipping containers, and maintaining an organized, functional yard.

The Laredo Depot is a dynamic and fast-growing location that handles a diverse mix of traditional and non-traditional equipment. We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for operational excellence and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment, including lifts, to handle shipping containers and related gear.

• Load and unload rail cars and trucks efficiently and safely.

• Sort, stack, and organize equipment and containers throughout the yard.

• Assist with general yard and equipment maintenance to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

• Perform visual inspections and quality checks of incoming and outgoing equipment.

• Support terminal operations with other duties as assigned.

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in a logistics or industrial environment preferred
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Manual transmission experience preferred, but not required
• Previous experience in operating a container handler preferred
• Previous experience in operating a crane and/or heavy equipment is a plus
• Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
• Valid driver’s license
• Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening
  • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Depot or yard operations.

• Familiarity with container handling equipment such as hostlers, top loaders, or cranes.

• CDL or equipment certifications a plus, but not required.
