Responsibilities

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Container/Chassis Shop Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Maintenance & Repair (M&R) team. This role is critical to ensuring a safe, productive, and high-performing work environment, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily operations of M&R staff to ensure a safe and productive workplace.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and corporate policies.

  • Monitor shop performance to meet or exceed operational KPIs.

  • Maintain strong customer relationships by meeting service expectations and commitments.

  • Oversee procurement and inventory to ensure adequate supply of necessary materials and parts.

  • Develop and manage operational budgets, and proactively communicate adjustments as needed.

  • Collaborate with leadership to set and achieve goals for productivity, profitability, safety, and compliance.

  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to team members.

  • Conduct regular safety observations, terminal audits, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Support terminal operations by solving issues that impact workflow and productivity.

  • Uphold all company rules, regulations, and policies with integrity and consistency.

  • Provide on-the-spot coaching for safety violations and promote a proactive safety culture.

  • Perform additional administrative and operational duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in a leadership or management role.

  • In-depth knowledge of intermodal equipment maintenance and repair (dry/reefer containers, trailers, chassis).

  • Basic financial skills, including expense and inventory management.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

  • Strong work ethic and a hands-on leadership style.

  • Flexible availability, including the ability to work in varying weather conditions.

  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening
      • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen. 
  • Availability to work Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
