🕐 Status: Full-Time | Immediate Hire

🕔 Schedule: Able to work 2nd Shift Monday-Thursday 2:00PM-10:00PM and day shift on one weekend

Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Railyard Load Planner / Gate Clerk to support our daily rail operations. This dual-role position combines responsibilities of both load planning and gate operations to ensure the efficient coordination of inbound and outbound trailer, chassis, and container movements.

As a Load Planner, you will coordinate equipment placement, maintain accurate load data, and support yard operations. As a Gate Clerk, you will serve as the first point of contact at the gate, ensuring accurate documentation, smooth communication with customers, and proper inspection logging of all equipment entering or exiting the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Load Planner Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efficient loading and unloading of inbound and outbound units onto trains.

  • Ensure proper handling and placement of trailers, chassis, and containers.

  • Update BNSF HUB Planner and other load-planning systems with accurate data.

  • Perform yard checks to verify outbound units are properly loaded.

  • Communicate effectively with yard crews, dispatchers, and supervisors.

  • Monitor checkpoint performance and recommend process improvements.

Gate Clerk Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact at the gate, greeting and assisting drivers/customers.

  • Inspect trailers, chassis, and containers, documenting conditions with detailed reports.

  • Accurately update systems with inspection and gate-processing information in real time.

  • Answer inbound customer calls promptly and professionally, addressing inquiries or concerns.

  • Support yard and gate operations by assisting with documentation, inspections, and reporting.

  • Maintain assigned workstations and equipment in a clean, organized condition.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or terminal operations preferred

  • Familiarity with intermodal/railyard operations a plus

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Willingness to work in an office setting, with some tasks involving extended periods indoors.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to maintain smooth operations.
  • Valid driver’s license (Using company pick up truck to check the track and do inventory.
  • Able to work 2nd Shift Monday-Thursday 2:00PM-10:00PM and day shift on one weekend 
  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
    • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
